CEDARE and EMEA Sign MoU to Advance Sustainable Development and Green Economic Transformation

Centre for Environment & Development for the Arab Region & Europe (CEDARE), represented by its Executive Director, H.E. Dr. Khaled Fahmy and Euro-Mediterranean Water Information System (EMEA), represented by its Founder and President, Dr. Rym Ayadi, and, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in advancing sustainable development, climate resilience, and green economic transformation across the Arab region, Europe, and the Mediterranean.

This partnership establishes a non-exclusive framework for collaboration focused on promoting sustainable development, climate resilience, carbon trading, and green transition through joint research, enhanced environmental governance, capacity building, and evidence-based, innovation-driven solutions.

Under the MoU, EMEA and CEDARE will cooperate in areas including:

Climate resilience and climate action, including policy design, capacity building, and technical assistance

Green transition and inclusive green growth through joint research, training, and policy dialogue

Circular economy approaches and low-carbon development strategies

Support for access to voluntary and compliance carbon markets, including innovative financing mechanisms

Integrated solutions for the Water–Food–Energy Nexus

Sustainable urban planning, nature-based solutions, and integrated water governance

Energy efficiency and clean energy solutions, including renewable energy (on-grid and off-grid)

Joint initiatives for knowledge sharing, institutional growth, and collaborative project development, leveraging both organizations’ networks to maximize outreach and impact

The MoU also foresees collaboration through joint projects and proposals, policy research and studies, training programmes and workshops, and the dissemination of knowledge and evidence to support stakeholders across the region.
