Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment and Vice Chairperson of CEDARE’s Board of Trustees, welcomed Dr. Khaled Fahmy, the newly appointed Executive Director of CEDARE, to discuss the future action plan and strengthen the organization’s regional role in addressing environmental challenges.
Dr. Khaled Fahmy presented his vision for updating CEDARE’s operational mechanisms to effectively respond to current environmental and developmental challenges, focusing on raising the efficiency of projects, strengthening partnerships with the private sector, and attracting investments to support sustainable development. He also discussed the steps for preparing a strategic action plan with clear objectives and a timeline for the upcoming phase, taking into consideration the needs of member states.
Dr. Fahmy highlighted the importance of intensifying efforts to tackle pressing environmental issues such as climate change and plastic pollution, while also promoting investment in the circular economy and natural reserves. He underlined CEDARE’s crucial role in leading regional environmental efforts through innovative initiatives that support the implementation of shared goals. For her part, Dr. Yasmine Fouad praised Dr. Khaled Fahmy’s vision and his ability to lead the organization towards a new stage of achievement, affirming her full support for the proposed development plans. She pointed out the importance of joint work to achieve a comprehensive vision that serves the countries of the region and enhances regional cooperation.

أكد د. خالد فهمي أهمية تكثيف الجهود لمعالجة القضايا البيئية الملحة، مثل تغير المناخ والتلوث البلاستيكي، بالإضافة إلى تعزيز الاستثمار في الاقتصاد الدائري والمحميات الطبيعية. كما شدد على أهمية دور سيداري في قيادة العمل البيئي الإقليمي من خلال مبادرات مبتكرة تدعم تنفيذ الأهداف المشتركة.
