Change begins at home—where resilience grows and futures are shaped.
Since 8 December, CEDARE – Centre for Environment & Development for the Arab Region & Europe has been implementing the Women’s Economic and Social Empowerment (EA$E) sessions in Beheira Governorate, supporting 150 households to build stronger, more resilient futures under the Al-Murunah+ Initiative.
This initiative is implemented with the support of Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and in collaboration with our co-implementing partner, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI)
These sessions go beyond dialogue; they are action plans for transformation—helping families shift from coping to thriving through:
Shared Decision-Making: Enhancing communication, trust, and gender-equitable attitudes within households.
Economic Empowerment: Building financial literacy and enabling women, youth, and people with disabilities to establish climate-smart agribusinesses.
Tailored Impact: Using participatory tools to promote equitable gender roles in rural communities and strengthen local leadership structures.
Al-Murunah+ initiative builds on the core Al-Murunah project by integrating Nature-based Solutions (NBS) with household resilience-building to promote positive gender norms across Al-Murunah pilot sites in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs).
