CEDARE and League of Arab States Conclude Regional Meeting on EOAR II

On 15 May 2025, CEDARE and the League of Arab States successfully concluded the regional meeting for the Second Edition of the Environment Outlook for the Arab Region (EOAR II). The meeting commenced with opening remarks from the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

The technical sessions featured presentations by distinguished experts, beginning with Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah from the League of Arab States. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahim, Deputy Executive Director of CEDARE, then presented key findings from the first regional meeting, which stimulated productive discussions among participants. Mr. Yusuf Younis from CEDARE followed with a presentation of the national priority environmental themes survey results.

During the afternoon sessions, CEDARE delegates led comprehensive discussions on proposed Arab environmental priorities, the report’s structural framework, and the information management system for data collection. These were complemented by substantive deliberations on member states’ roles in the report preparation process, facilitated by the League of Arab States.

During the meeting an agreement was reached on concrete next steps for finalizing EOAR II. This successful collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing regional environmental cooperation and sustainable development initiatives across the Arab world.
