CEDARE and UNEP Strengthen Strategic Collaboration at AMCEN-20 in Nairobi

On the sidelines of AMCEN-20, the UN Environment Programme in Africa – Regional Office for Africa hosted a strategic meeting with CEDARE in Nairobi, Kenya.The primary objectives of this meeting were to review ongoing collaborative projects, identify new opportunities for partnership, and discuss strategies for deepening the longstanding cooperation between CEDARE and UNEP. Key discussion points included advancing a significant project focused on air quality and urban climate resilience in Africa and strategizing the future management of the MATATU digital platform. The discussions also included the development of a number of strategic products on critical regional environmental topics. Furthermore, potential new areas of collaboration were explored, focusing on strengthening environmental early warning systems across Africa and conducting targeted environmental assessments in vital areas. This meeting underscored the commitment of both entities to advancing environmental protection and sustainable development across the African continent through enhanced collaboration and strategic initiatives.
