On Wednesday, 3rd December, during the second day of COP 24 in Cairo, CEDARE – Centre for Environment & Development for the Arab Region & Europe – joined a key session, sharing insights and expertise on advancing circular economy initiatives in the Mediterranean.
As a member of Circe.med, CEDARE participated in a distinguished panel alongside Ms. Catherine Chabaud, French Minister Delegate for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries; Philippe Masset (ADEME); Lefteris Arapakis (Enaleia); Khalid Raafat (Tile Green); Dr. Sameh Reyad; and Dr. Hossam Allam (CEDARE). The session highlighted the importance of strengthening the Mediterranean Network for the Circular Economy and provided an overview of both the Circe.med network and the Plastic Med Lab project.
The event also showcased Enaleia’s pioneering work in Egypt through its multi-stakeholder marine waste collection network, operating across six active ports, an inspiring model for regional collaboration.
Circe.med brings together Mediterranean organisations committed to advancing ecologically sound and sustainable ecosystems and supporting the transition towards a carbon-free, circular economy that enhances quality of life across the region.
