Today, CEDARE had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the (UNEP/MAP) to discuss opportunities for enhanced collaboration within the framework of the MedProgramme – Mediterranean Programme on Environmental Security, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The meeting focused on:
• Updates on recent UNEP/MAP and GEF-funded initiatives in the Mediterranean;
• The MedProgramme’s actions across key priority areas and their potential extension to Egypt;
• CEDARE’s regional experience and initiatives in integrated management frameworks, including Source-to-Sea, WEFE Nexus, Blue and Circular Economy, Climate Change Adaptation, and Nature-based Solutions;
• Prospects for short-, medium-, and long-term UNEP/MAP–CEDARE cooperation frameworks.
This mission comes ahead of the upcoming MOU signing between CEDARE and UNEP/MAP during the COP 24 of the Barcelona Convention, reinforcing our shared commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and regional cooperation across the Mediterranean.
