Dr. Khaled Elfarra is a distinguished expert in energy management, sustainability, and environmental engineering, with more than four decades of professional experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy, cleaner production, waste management, circular economy, and climate change mitigation. Throughout his career, he has supported governments, international organizations, and private sector entities in developing and implementing sustainable energy and environmental solutions across Egypt and the Arab region.
Dr. Elfarra is currently the General Manager and Partner at TARSHEED Engineering Consultations, a position he has held for over 27 years. During his tenure, he has led numerous national and regional initiatives in energy efficiency and renewable energy across the industrial, commercial, tourism, and building sectors. He has also contributed to the development of national energy strategies, addressing both energy demand and generation planning to support sustainable development and greenhouse gas emission reduction.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Elfarra has managed and supervised more than 900 energy audits, conducted over 110 technical and financial feasibility studies, and overseen the implementation of projects exceeding USD 50 million in investment. His expertise extends to integrated solid waste management, where he has led strategic planning, technology assessments, waste-to-energy initiatives, policy development, regulatory frameworks, and capacity-building programs to improve environmental performance and resource efficiency.
In addition to his consulting work, Dr. Elfarra serves as the Chair of the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Program of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) in Egypt. He has delivered Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) training programs, certifying more than 1,200 engineers across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates.
Throughout his career, Dr. Elfarra has participated in numerous national and international programs focused on renewable energy planning, green finance, circular economy, decarbonization, and sustainable resource management. His work has contributed to improving energy performance, advancing cleaner production technologies, strengthening waste management systems, and supporting low-carbon development pathways in the region.
Dr. Elfarra’s expertise spans energy management, renewable energy, decarbonization, circular economy, integrated waste management, environmental compliance, and sustainability. His technical leadership and extensive regional experience have made him a recognized expert in supporting organizations and governments in achieving practical, financially viable, and environmentally sustainable development solutions.
