New Success Story from the “Al-Murunah” Project | Beheira Governorate – Egypt

by CEDARE Team

As part of the “Al-Murunah” Project, implemented by the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) in cooperation with theInternational Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture, and funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO),

we share an inspiring success story in the field of economic empowerment of rural women.

Sahar Mohamed tells us about her journey, which started with modest beginnings and turned into a true success story.

From working long hours in distant workshops for minimal wages, she and her colleagues were able to establish their own local workspace, where they now work independently in a safe and clean environment close to their homes — improving their income and achieving economic independence.

Sahar’s story embodies how development initiatives can create lasting impact when rural women are placed at the heart of sustainable development.
