Student Guideline
Stockholm Junior Water Prize – Egypt
The Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) – Egypt is now open for applications! This prestigious competition is designed for young innovators passionate about water sustainability. The winner of the national competition will represent Egypt in the international finals in Stockholm, Sweden.
Participation Criteria
- Open to students aged 15-20 who are currently in high school or an equivalent educational level.
- University students are not allowed to participate unless they started university after completing their project.
- Participation can be individual or in teams of two students maximum.
- Projects should focus on water-related scientific, environmental, technological, or social solutions.
Project Requirement
The project must enhance the quality of life, through the improvement of water quality, water resources management, water, and wastewater treatment as well as water education and social aspects of water.
The project may focus on local, regional, national or global topics. It is essential to adopt a research-oriented approach, that is, scientifically-accepted methodologies for investigation, experimentation, monitoring and reporting results, including statistical analysis.
Project Submission
Submissions must include the following information:
- A completed SJWP-Egypt Registration Form
- Project in Word/PDF format
- Photo (in JPG or similar format)
- Abstract (minimum of 250 words, maximum of 350 words)
– Language:
- The report must be written in English (if the original version is in another language, both versions must be submitted).
– Formatting:
- Font: Aptos, size 12
- Spacing: 1.5 line spacing
- Margins: Standard academic margins
- Length: Maximum of 20 A4 pages, including tables, figures, photos, annexes, and references.
– Structure: The report should follow academic writing standards and be well-organized with clear sections, including:
- Title page (designed freely but must include ‘Entry to the Stockholm Junior Water Prize [year]’, project title, student(s) name(s), and country).
- Summary (maximum one page, single-spaced).
- Table of contents and list of abbreviations.
- Acknowledgments (must indicate any external help from universities, professionals, or others).
- Introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion.
- References and citations must be appropriately formatted.
- Submission Format:
- The report must be submitted in PDF format.
- File size must not exceed 2MB.
Project Presentation Requirements
– Poster Display:
- The project must be presented in a poster format for exhibition.
- The poster must be written in English only.
- It should contain key visuals such as illustrations, diagrams, or photos.
- The display should be visually appealing and reflect the core findings of the research.
Additional Considerations
- Command of English: Participants must be able to present their project in English. If necessary, the National Organizer is responsible for arranging translation support.
- University Assistance: If a project receives technical support from a university, the extent of external help must be clearly mentioned in the acknowledgment section.
