Webinar Overview:

This webinar presents an integrated perspective on how Earth Observation (EO) technologies and data science can be effectively utilized to address key environmental challenges facing the Mediterranean region and other vulnerable ecosystems worldwide.

The presentation will highlight the transformative role of multi-sensor satellite data—including optical, thermal, and radar observations, as well as advanced hyperspectral missions—when integrated with advanced analytics, modeling techniques, and artificial intelligence applications.

The webinar will explore applied case studies across interconnected fields such as biodiversity monitoring, habitat and soil classification, coral reef health and behavior assessment, analysis of sea surface temperature increases in the Mediterranean Sea, and water security challenges under climate pressures. Special emphasis will be placed on the importance of Earth Observation time-series data in detecting long-term trends, extreme events, and environmental tipping points.

In addition, the session will underscore the critical role of data science in integrating diverse datasets, pattern recognition, uncertainty reduction, and the development of decision-support indicators.

Through real-world case studies, the webinar will demonstrate how satellite-derived data contribute to ecosystem assessment, early warning systems, and sustainable management of terrestrial and marine environments. The discussion will also emphasize the importance of bridging scientific research with policymaking and practical implementation, in support of regional and international environmental agendas—particularly in climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and natural resource management.

The webinar aims to strengthen integration between Earth Observation science, advanced analytics, and institutional cooperation—an approach aligned with CEDARE’s mission to promote evidence-based solutions for building a more resilient future in the face of accelerating environmental change.
