by CEDARE Team

As part of the ongoing implementation of the partnership agreement between the CEDARE – Centre for Environment & Development for the Arab Region & Europe and Environmental Horizon Co. Saudi Arabia, CEDARE hosted an executive workshop at the Centre’s headquarters in Cairo.

The workshop was attended by Dr Zaki Al‑Bakri, Chairman of Afaaq Environmental Horizons, and Eng. Amin Mohamed Ali, Executive Director of the company, accompanied by a team of experts and specialists. The meeting also brought together Prof. Dr Khaled Fahmy, Executive Director of CEDARE and former Minister of Environment of Egypt, along with a number of the Centre’s specialised experts.

The workshop discussed the operational steps for establishing an Environmental Arbitration Centre and platform at CEDARE, alongside the development of Afaaq Environmental Horizons’ training platform and its pathway towards becoming an Environmental Training Academy. Discussions also addressed the implementation frameworks for the agreed initiatives, the allocation of roles and responsibilities between the two sides, and the adoption of a one-year timeline to support the delivery of joint activities and projects.

This step reflects the shared commitment of both parties to strengthening environmental governance, advancing capacity building, and developing innovative institutional solutions that support sustainable development across the region.
