On Sunday, June 22, CEDARE welcomed a high-level delegation from the United Kingdom to the field sites of the Al-Murunah Project in Beheira Governorate. The visit comes within the framework of advancing climate resilience and promoting nature-based solutions in Egypt’s agricultural sector.
The delegation was led by Mr. Sam Grout-Smith, Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (@FCDOGovUK), and included:

The delegation toured several on-the-ground interventions, including solar-powered irrigation systems, laser land leveling, and women-led agro-processing initiatives.
Dr. Amr Abdelmagid of CEDARE’s Governance Programme presented the project’s key components, delivered in close partnership with Egypt’s Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
The visit highlighted the project’s impactful contribution to water resource efficiency, climate resilience, food security, and inclusive governance, particularly through empowering women and youth.
