Day 1 highlights from the workshop on “Building Climate Change Resilience through Nature-based Solutions to Water and Agriculture in the Mena Region Al-Murunah Project”

The 4 countries of the project, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine exchanged experiences and knowledge on Nature Based Solutions (NBS) Interventions. Participants also shared ideas and opportunities for upscaling at the national and regional levels.

The workshop included governmental representatives from the 4 countries, in addition to regional and international organizations (International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and IUCN) in addition to international experts.

Dr. Amr Abdelmeguid, “Cedare – Centre for Environment & Development for the Arab Region & Europe“’s Director of the Environmental Governance Programme, gave an overview of Al-Murunah national progress and its integration with Nature-based Solution (NBS) and inclusive governance approach, outlining the project’s key interventions:

– Solar-powered irrigation system for water efficiency and reduced carbon emissions

– Capacity-building training on gender and entrepreneurship

– Technical support and value chain to strengthen the market access
