H.E. Dr. Khaled Fahmy and H.E. Dr. Amna Al Dahak Discuss Strengthening CEDARE’s Role in Regional Environmental Action

October 11, 2025 – H.E. Dr. Khaled Fahmy, Executive Director of the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) and former Egyptian Minister of Environment, held a meeting with Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment and a member of CEDARE’s Board of Trustees. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Conservation Congress of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and advancing the agenda for environmental sustainability. The discussions also addressed the ongoing reform process within the Centre, during which Dr. Khaled Fahmy presented the key components and strategic plan for these reforms.

Within this context, and in her role as a Board of Trustees member, Her Excellency Dr. Amna Al Dahak proposed presenting an overview of the reform process at the upcoming meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE). This initiative aims to inform the Ministers of these developments, while reaffirming the pivotal role of CEDARE as a strategic partner in supporting the Council’s work and assisting the efforts of Arab environmental ministries in achieving regional environmental goals.
